What Our Basement Currently Looks Like

The Midwest is currently being super-blessed with the "fourth wettest June on record."

Resulting in this:

Constant humming of fans and a slight mildew scent in the air.

Ahhh....must be summer.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Daddy with the kids, ready to go to church.

Daddy and the kids with this year's candy bar poster picture

The poster, hand-colored with love!

We love Daddy because he works so hard to take care of us, and plays with us when he is home.
We love Daddy because he is funny and plays games with us.
He helps us when our stuff is stuck on the tree.
He takes care of us when we are hurt.
He can cheer us up when we are really sad.
Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
We love you!

The Marshmallow Guns

What man doesn't want to have a marshmallow battle with his family after getting home from work on Father's Day morning? I found the idea on skiptomylou.org and thought our little family could really have some fun with that!

Of course, boys will be boys and will not stop aiming at the kids!

Taken a mere second after the previous photo, you can actually see the marshmallow bouncing off of Ryan!
(And don't you love the backward blowing -- we couldn't convince Ryan to use the mouthpiece!)

Chelsey's strategy? Find a hiding place and bunker down.

Poor Emily had croup and could barely summon the lung power to pop those marshmallows out.

These are the Smiles You Hope For on Father's Day!

Taste of Omaha

We recently attended Taste of Omaha, a festival on the beautiful Lewis and Clark Landing on the Missouri River which featured local restaurant food and some fun carnival activities. Our good friends Alvin and Sarah invited us to come along -- what good sports they are! (Alvin and Jason are pediatric residents together.)

We let the girls ride two rides. This was a big hit!!

And who can resist the carousel?

We tried so many different kinds of yummy food! You purchased tickets and exchanged tickets for tastes of food from the different vendors. We tried egg rolls, chips and guacamole, meat skewers, gigantic turkey leg, enchiladas, macaroni and cheese, and some delicious strawberry rhubarb pie. Mmmmm! We scored a great table with room for the kids to dance AND we got to listen to an accordian band! I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure there is no better summer night than that! Good times!

The (Root)Beer Barrel Polka -- this makes me miss my dad!
