Match Day Pictures

Here are a few pictures from the big event:

Here we are waiting together as it started.  Emily is holding the dollar we had to pay to get our envelope.  (The last person to get their envelope gets the pot of dollar bills from everyone else for having to wait for the last envelope.)  

I love this shot of Amy (she didn't know I was taking it) because I felt that it really captures the emotion we were both feeling as we waited for my name to be called.  (You'll notice Jared in the background had already received his letter and we waited for what seemed like hours after that.)

I couldn't believe the number of people in the room.  It was incredible.  You could really feel the excitement and tension in the air.

7 Needles... (Part II)

Today I found out what the "secret" project is Amy was working on when she had the sewing accident.  It was this beautiful quilt and she was making it for me for Match Day!  It was a complete surprise - I had no idea!  She secretly bought fabric at each of the places we went for residency interviews and sewed the quilt in a pattern called "Brick Road."  So, she named this quilt "Residency Road" and included each city's block of fabric.  Amy is the most amazing wife in the world and I was speechless that she was so thoughtful and put so much time into this.  I love you Amy.  Thanks for the beautiful quilt and for everything you've done for me over the last few months on the residency road.  :)

Hard to believe it's finally Match Day, the day we've waited for for four years.  After an agonizingly long week (this morning especially seemed to drag on and on), we finally found out where I'll be completing my Pediatric residency.  And the answer was...
