Our Own Playboy Bunny

On really hot days this same bunny (well, I think it's the same one) always lays out on our cool grass with a certain come-hither attitude...

We Went to the Apple Orchard!

Our residency spouse association, HOAA, recently had a playgroup activity at Dittmer's Apple Orchard. What a fun place - everyone got a ride on the tractor pull, each kid got to pick two apples, and the moms paid only $1.50/lb for any other apples picked - cheaper than the grocery store, for sure! This was a great activity. We picked the absolute yummiest apples I've had in a long time, and just spent a fun day with friends.

Riding the tractor pull up to the orchard (Ryan was not feeling very good)

Emily picked the first two apples she saw

Chelsey spent a long time picking her two apples
("Mom, is THIS the best one? Is THIS one?")

Ryan perked up when he saw all the "balls" all over the ground

I thought this was cute - Chelsey was very excited to see that she had coordinated her nail polish to match the apples

Enjoying our Fresh-Picked Orchard Apples

There's nothing like eating a fresh-picked apple, still warm from the sun

A watched pie never bakes...

Beautiful pies, if I do say so myself!
(It's amazing what a good oven can produce - my oven in Milwaukee just melted the crust down the sides of the pie plate, ruining the beautiful crimped edge.)
