For five weeks now, the key to our basement has been missing. The week after Ryan was born, sweet, sweet Jason was doing all of the laundry. After the last batch (luckily) was brought up, one of us misplaced the key. Well, no big deal, we thought. (This happens all of the time - it always eventually turns up.) Our downstairs-neighbor Tricia was so nice to keep letting us into the basement anytime we needed to go down, but the door was always shutting before we could stop it, and we would have to bug her over and over.
Anyway, to make a long story short (too late! (have you seen "Clue" lately?)) I finally broke down and dragged myself to Lowe's to make a copy of Tricia's key. GUESS WHAT WE FOUND THE DAY AFTER I FINALLY DID THIS? The key was right under the couch cushion, not even hidden at all. And how many times had we searched the couch, looking for said key? At least five times! This always happens this way, doesn't it! Annoying, annoying.
Moral of this story: A key in the hand is worth two in the couch.

Once upon a time...
...there were two beautiful princesses. They lived in a very large and very luxurious three-bedroom castle where they had everything they could have ever dreamed of, including food and clothing. They were very happy and helpful princesses (never cross) who spent all of their days helping their mother,...
...the queen. They never fought and never quarreled so that the queen's life would be one of pleasure and joy. They always obeyed their mother, the queen, at her first command. They were quick to do their chores and pick up their toys, they helped make dinner and wash the dishes, and they never made a mess that they didn't clean up themselves. And one day...
... a little prince was born. He was very handsome and very well-behaved. He never fussed, he never cried. He never got gas and he never spit up. Each night, he retired to his royal basinet at 8:00 pm and slept soundly, not making a peep, until 7:00 am the next day. When he ate, he was grateful and never requested more by screaming at the top of his lungs. He never complained when his older sisters, the princesses, would force him to wear his crown and be a prince and he always smiled happily and cooed on command. Truly, there could never be a happier kingdom in all the land...
Wouldn't it be nice to live in a fairy tale!
Ryan grows up...
Ryan is growing up so fast... He's already getting too big to fit into his newborn-size clothes anymore. He's also just starting to smile. We've had a really hard time catching his smiles on camera, but here's half of one. It's been so fun to come home from work and talk to him and get a huge smile in return. It really makes my day.
Ryan has also really started making better eye contact. It's really fun when you feel like he is looking right at you and trying to communicate. He has been such a good baby and it's fun to watch him grow up.
One of Ryan's favorite things to do is lay on this mat on the twin bed in our third bedroom, all by himself. He'll lie there and kick for almost an hour! I think it's his way of getting away from his two older sisters and the noise and enjoying some time by himself to think about what he's gotten himself into. :)
More Pictures...
Emily is getting more and more mischevious. I showed the intern I was working with on OB a picture of the three kids the other day, and she pointed right at Emily and said, "That one's trouble, isn't she?" I just laughed and thought, "Wow! Is it really that obvious?" I like this picture because it really is that obvious.
